Volunteer

Help us carry out our mission by volunteering at the Akron Urban League.

Why Volunteer at the Akron Urban League?

Volunteering for the Akron Urban League is a great way to give back to the community and help create positive change. As a volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to work hands-on with a dedicated team of professionals to help with events, advocacy efforts, fundraising, and more.

As a nonprofit community organization, our volunteers are our lifeblood. By donating your time and skills, you’ll help create a more just and equitable society — and make a visible difference in the lives of the people you serve.

Volunteer Screening

Because the safety of our community is of utmost importance to us, we thoroughly screen our volunteers. All volunteers must undergo a background check, and we may verify credentials as needed.

A parental consent form is required for any youth volunteer under the age of 18. Adult volunteers directly involved with youth are subject to annual criminal record checks.

How We Select Volunteers

The work we do directly affects Summit County citizens, so we make sure that our volunteers are the best people for their respective roles.

If your volunteer application is accepted, we’ll reach out to let you know! We’ll send over all necessary documentation, including an Individual Volunteer Service Agreement, a Participant Assumption of Risk and Release, and the Akron Urban League volunteer handbook.
